Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Clay County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its material, or submitting a search means the user accepts every term below. Anyone who does not agree must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. Clay County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a local, state, or federal agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service intended for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act purposes. This is a record-location resource for Clay County and Missouri, not a private-investigation service or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of government. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves files, conducts authorized background checks, or submits paperwork for a user.

Its role is to identify custodians such as the Clay County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS Division, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry, along with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Users must not:

  • Interfere with site speed, availability, or another visitor's access
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools on these pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Violate any applicable federal, Missouri, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use this site's content or a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Missouri's official sex offender registry specifically warns that use of its information to commit a crime against a registrant or household can result in prosecution. Registry data supports public-safety awareness, not vigilantism or unlawful exclusion.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer, credit, or background reports. Site information and linked tools may not be used to:

  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose
  • Set insurance rates or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Assess a housing or rental applicant
  • Make a hiring or firing decision

A regulated check must come from an authorized, FCRA-compliant source or the appropriate official Missouri channel.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Missouri attorney can advise how a warrant, charge, conviction, or expungement rule affects a specific matter.

6. No Warranties

All content is supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • An outside search provider will return complete or correct results
  • The pages contain no bug, error, or security weakness
  • Service will remain available without interruption
  • Every detail is complete, current, and accurate

Charges, dismissals, closed records, and expungement orders change government files over time. Gaps can occur. Nothing here is an official statement from the Clay County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, MSHP CJIS, or another agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to court portals, sheriff pages, Missouri agencies, legal resources, and outside search companies. We do not control those destinations or accept responsibility for their availability, prices, privacy practices, or content. Review the destination's own terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Clay County Criminal History or its content partners owns the site's text, code, graphics, and logos. Written permission is required before copying, distributing, adapting, or building upon that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from use of the site, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by that user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Missouri law governs these terms. A dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in Missouri. Government record access remains subject to the Missouri Sunshine Law, including the dissemination limits in section 610.100.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend, restrict, or end access at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected language will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
